iPad screenshots that were designed for a tablet

A 3:4 canvas is not a phone screenshot with bars on the side. Generate a proper tablet composition at 2064 × 2752 for the App Store and 1600 × 2560 for Google Play, from the screens you already uploaded.

Why the tablet set has to be its own set

01

A stretched phone screenshot is obvious

A 9:19.5 composition scaled into a 3:4 canvas leaves either enormous side bars or a headline blown up past the point of comfort. Reviewers notice, and so do buyers comparing two tablet apps side by side.

02

Tablet users are looking for a different thing

People browsing on an iPad are usually evaluating your app as a work surface, not a pocket tool. Multi-pane layouts, keyboard support and larger data views are worth showing explicitly.

03

It is a ranking and visibility input

If your build declares tablet support and your listing has no tablet artwork, Google Play down-weights you in tablet and Chromebook surfaces. On the App Store, an iPad build with no iPad screenshots cannot be submitted at all.

04

The aspect ratio changes the story

A 3:4 canvas is close to square, which leaves room for a device plus a supporting caption or a second panel. Phone layouts have to stack; tablet layouts can sit side by side.

Five layout rules for a 3:4 canvas

Applied automatically when you pick iPad, and worth knowing if you are reviewing what came back.

  • 1

Put the headline in the top 15–20%. Close-to-square canvases make top-heavy layouts read better than centred ones.

  • 2

Show the tablet in landscape if your app is used in landscape — matching real usage beats matching your phone set.

  • 3

Do not simply enlarge the phone UI. If your app has a split view or sidebar on tablet, that is the screenshot worth leading with.

  • 4

Keep the same accent colour and typeface as your phone set so both galleries read as one product.

  • 5

Leave the outer 6–8% as background only; the store crops tablet galleries the same way it crops phone galleries.

iPad screenshot questions

What size are iPad App Store screenshots?+

2064 × 2752 px portrait (or 2752 × 2064 landscape) for the 13" iPad Pro family. That is the set App Store Connect asks for; it scales down to 12.9" and 11" automatically. The legacy 12.9" slot at 2048 × 2732 is still accepted if you prefer to supply it directly.

Do I have to provide iPad screenshots?+

Only if your app binary declares iPad support. If it does, App Store Connect will not let you submit without at least one iPad screenshot set. If you ship iPhone-only, the slot never appears.

Can I use the same artwork for iPad and iPhone?+

You can reuse the same headline, palette and message, but not the same file — the aspect ratios are too far apart. Generating the iPad set from the same upload keeps the look consistent while giving each canvas its own composition.

What about Android tablets?+

Select Google Play as the target and the export preset produces PlayStore/Tablet at 1600 × 2560. Play formally accepts a 1280 × 800 minimum for 10" tablets, but exporting larger keeps the listing crisp on high-density screens.

How many credits does an iPad set cost?+

One credit per rendered screenshot, the same as phone. Choosing "Both" under Apple Device renders iPhone and iPad versions of each screen, so a five-screen set across both devices costs ten credits.

Cover the tablet slot before you submit

Select Both under Apple Device and one batch produces the iPhone and iPad galleries together.
